Construction has begun on Calgary’s first combined fire station and public library in the southeast community of Walden. The $34.2-million development will bring a permanent two-bay fire station and an 11,000-square-foot public library together at 969 Walden Drive S.E.
The facility is expected to open in 2028 and will serve Walden, Legacy, Chaparral, Wolf Willow and surrounding communities. The temporary fire station will continue responding to emergencies during construction.
