YYC24 is a Calgary digital news site. This page explains what information we receive when you browse the site or contact us.
Information you send us
Our contact form asks for your name, email address, topic and message. We use that information to review your tip, correction, question or privacy request and to respond where appropriate. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information through the form. Submitting a tip does not guarantee coverage or confidentiality; contact us before sending sensitive source material.
Browsing and outside services
The site and its hosting providers may process technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as your IP address, browser details and request logs. A news search uses the words you enter to find published stories. The weather page uses forecast data fetched by our server from Environment Canada. If you play embedded video or use a social share link, the video or social platform may receive information under its own privacy policy. Story images may also be delivered by our content provider.
Optional analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 only after you accept analytics in our privacy banner. It helps us understand page visits, article readership, referral sources, searches and site interactions. Google may process cookie identifiers, browser and device information and approximate location, including on systems outside Canada. Advertising consent remains disabled, and we disable Google signals and ad personalization in our site configuration. We do not send contact-form message contents as custom analytics events. Google’s privacy policy explains its processing.
You can accept or decline analytics without affecting access to the site. Use “Privacy settings” in the footer to change your choice. We remember that choice for up to six months. If you withdraw consent, we stop analytics, clear the site's Google Analytics cookies and reload the page. Site delivery and security services operate independently of this optional analytics choice.
Advertising service connection
We have added Google AdSense to connect and verify this site with Google's advertising service. Loading that service may send Google technical request information, such as your IP address and browser details. Ad requests are currently paused while advertising consent is configured. Accepting analytics does not grant advertising consent. Google's advertising privacy information explains how its advertising services use data.
Storage and access
Contact messages are stored for editorial follow-up and accessible to authorized YYC24 editors through the site’s editorial tools. We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes or applicable obligations. We use service providers to operate the site and newsroom; processing may occur outside Alberta or Canada. We do not sell contact-form submissions.
Your choices
You can read stories without submitting the contact form. Your browser may let you limit cookies or other site data, though some functions may be affected. To ask about information you sent, request access or correction, or raise a privacy concern, use the contact page and select “General question.”

We may revise this policy as the site changes. The effective date above identifies the current version.
