Lake Louise Ski Resort has opened its 2026–27 winter season on Sunday, November 1, five days ahead of schedule and marking its second-earliest opening on record.
The resort says recent snowfall, cold October temperatures and around-the-clock snowmaking allowed it to move up its originally planned November 6 start. It is also the resort's earliest opening in five years.
What's open on the mountain
The resort's official November 1 snow report, issued at 5:15 a.m., listed one operating lift and one open run: Juniper Express Chair and Easy Street. Two small terrain parks with jumps, rails and boxes are also available.
The beginner area is open for lessons. Equipment rentals, retail shopping and ski and snowboard tuning are available, along with three base-area dining options: the Lodge of Ten Peaks Cafeteria, Slopeside Coffee and Powder Keg.
Most of the mountain remains closed as the season begins. The resort says additional chairlifts, trails and terrain parks will open as snow and operating conditions allow; it has not announced a fixed timetable for those openings.
Lift tickets discounted by more than 60%
Lake Louise is offering early-season lift tickets with savings of more than 60% compared with regular prices. The discounts reflect the restricted number of open lifts and runs, and ticket prices will rise as more terrain becomes available.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the resort. The operator advises visitors to check its daily conditions and lift status before travelling, as available terrain and weather can change.
New winter lift schedule
Daily lift operating hours are now 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., half an hour later than before while still providing seven hours of lift access. Lake Louise says the adjusted schedule gives crews adequate morning daylight for slope preparation as Alberta transitions to permanent Alberta Time.
The resort's November 1 report listed a 13-centimetre base at upper mountain elevation and 11 centimetres at mid mountain. These are reported snow depths for the start of the season, not an indication that more than Easy Street is ready for public skiing.
Beyond opening day, Lake Louise plans new and improved terrain connections, expanded snowmaking at Richardson's Ridge and upgrades to the Top of the World Chair during the 2026–27 season.
