Calgary police and Alberta Sheriffs arrested 19 people and executed 87 outstanding warrants during a two-day operation targeting wanted individuals in the city's District 3.

The Calgary Police Service announced the results Friday, October 23. Police did not specify the exact dates of the enforcement operation, which had been planned over several weeks.

Officers visited 62 residences

Before officers were deployed, police analysts prepared and reviewed approximately 130 information packages to help locate people with outstanding warrants.

During the operation, police and sheriffs attended 62 residences throughout District 3. Their work resulted in 19 arrests and the execution of 87 warrants.

Police said the warrants involved alleged offences including possession of dangerous weapons, drug trafficking, personation, possession of stolen property and possession of fraudulent identification documents.

The 87 figure represents warrants executed, not the number of people arrested. CPS did not provide a breakdown of warrants per individual or announce a separate total of new criminal charges.

Joint operation involved multiple police units

The enforcement effort involved the Calgary Police Service's District 3 Community Engagement Response Team, community resource officers and patrol officers, together with the Alberta Sheriffs' Fugitive Apprehension Sheriff Support Team.

CPS District 3 Inspector Travis Juska said coordinated enforcement with the Alberta Sheriffs helps locate wanted people and address public safety concerns in the district. Alberta Sheriffs FASST Inspector Darren Thompson also highlighted the value of sharing intelligence and resources between agencies.

Police said the operation was intended to locate wanted individuals, respond to public safety concerns and advance ongoing investigations.

The Calgary Police Service release did not identify the people arrested or provide further details about any upcoming court appearances. Allegations mentioned in outstanding warrants have not been proven in court.
