Blue Line CTrain service between Whitehorn and Saddletowne stations will be suspended throughout the weekend as Calgary Transit carries out pedestrian crossing safety work in northeast Calgary.
The planned closure covers all of Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25. Blue Line trains travelling from downtown and the west will end their trips at Whitehorn Station, rather than continuing to the line's Saddletowne terminus.
Replacement shuttle buses will operate between Whitehorn and Saddletowne to provide service through the affected section.
Which stations are affected?
The disruption affects Whitehorn, McKnight-Westwinds, Martindale and Saddletowne stations. McKnight-Westwinds and Martindale will be closed to train service throughout the work. Whitehorn will remain the end of the operating Blue Line train segment, and shuttle buses will connect riders travelling farther northeast.
The shutdown is limited to this portion of the Blue Line. Calgary Transit has not announced a system-wide Blue Line closure.
Why trains are being suspended
Calgary Transit says the work includes continued crossing safety improvements at Saddletowne station, including replacing swing gates with gate arms at pedestrian crossings on the south side of the station. Other maintenance may proceed while train service is suspended.
The closure is part of the transit agency's planned 2026 disruption calendar. Calgary Transit says some projects require a section of track to be closed completely to allow crews to work safely.
When service will resume
Calgary Transit expects regular service to return by the beginning of service on Monday, October 26, following the Saturday and Sunday shutdown. Riders should check for any schedule changes before travelling.
The agency's detailed advisory incorrectly pairs the word Monday with October 25. October 25, 2026 is Sunday; the first Monday after the scheduled two-day closure is October 26.
Passengers travelling through the affected stations should plan for extra travel time and consult Calgary Transit's current service alerts, travel planner and shuttle information for their trip.
