A 15-year-old Bassano resident has died following a two-vehicle collision east of the southern Alberta community early Sunday, November 1, 2026, according to Bassano RCMP.
Police say they received the report at approximately 12:06 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 550 and Range Road 165, roughly 15 kilometres east of Bassano.
The collision involved a pickup truck and a sedan. The 15-year-old who was driving the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. A male youth passenger in the pickup sustained minor injuries.
Two people who were travelling in the sedan were transported to hospital with injuries believed to be serious. Their conditions have not been further confirmed.
Investigation continues
Bassano Fire and emergency medical services also responded. An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended to investigate the circumstances.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. RCMP have not publicly identified the teenager or announced any findings about what led to the crash.
Bassano RCMP extended condolences to the teenager's family and friends.
