Calgary Transit is converting 328 free parking spaces to reserved parking at Brentwood, Dalhousie, Tuscany and Somerset-Bridlewood stations starting Oct. 1.
The changes include:
Brentwood: 75 stalls, representing about nine per cent of the lot's current free parking
Dalhousie: 78 stalls, or about 12 per cent
Tuscany: 12 stalls in the north lot and 78 in the south lot, for 90 stalls total
Somerset-Bridlewood: 85 stalls, or about 16 per cent of its current free parking
Free parking will remain available at all four locations, subject to availability.
Calgary Transit says the change is intended to help manage parking demand while giving commuters who rely on a parking space for their weekday trip the option of securing one in advance.
Reserved stalls cost $95 per month plus GST and are designated as reserved from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. on weekdays.
Transit is advising commuters who normally use the affected lots to consider arriving earlier, using nearby transit service, reserving a stall or using another park-and-ride location if necessary.
Sign installation for the newly reserved spaces took place during September.
The changes take effect Thursday, Oct. 1.
