According to Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT), Eric Dinh was arrested September 29 following a joint investigation with the Calgary Police Service.
The investigation began in March 2026 after a woman came forward alleging she had been sexually trafficked.
When investigators arrested Dinh and searched his home in Calgary's Martindale neighbourhood, they seized quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine, along with nearly $5,000 in cash.
Dinh faces charges of obtaining a material benefit from sexual services, advertising sexual services, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited device and possession of proceeds of crime.
Despite the allegations, Dinh is not being held in custody, according to ALERT's October 8 announcement.
Police confirmed he was released under court-imposed conditions and is scheduled to appear in court October 23.
ALERT has not publicly detailed those conditions or explained whether prosecutors opposed his release.
YYC24 has contacted ALERT seeking clarification on the release decision, including what conditions were imposed, whether the Crown opposed his release and whether a photograph of the accused can be made available to help identify additional potential victims.
"We want to assure victims that they will be heard and that their information is valuable especially when it comes to preventing the victimization of other women," said ALERT Staff Sgt. Matt Pumphrey.
Investigators believe additional victims may exist and are urging anyone with relevant information to contact police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Survivors of human trafficking can also access confidential support by calling 211.
The allegations against Dinh have not been proven in court. Under Canadian law, accused individuals are generally entitled to reasonable bail unless detention is justified under applicable legal criteria.
YYC24 will update this story as further information becomes available.
